Vincentian Breaks Ground for Terrace Place Active Living Community in McCandless

 

Bishop David Zubik today joined with elected officials, community leaders and representatives of Vincentian Collaborative System for a ceremonial groundbreaking for TERRACE PLACE AT VINCENTIAN, an active senior living community located along Babcock Boulevard in McCandless on the former site of Vincentian Regency.

The 91-unit community will feature independent living apartment homes for individuals 55+ in an adaptable, innovative, park-like setting that embraces a green and open concept, explained Vincentian President & CEO Nick Vizzoca.

“Residents looking to focus on enjoying life rather than worrying about home maintenance and repairs will discover open floorplans with balconies or patios,” said Vizzoca. “Since affordability is key, we worked with a construction manager and architect to keep costs down without sacrificing quality. The campus will truly represent Vincentian’s values and mission.”

Joining the festivities were Rep. Mike Turzai, Sen. Randy Vulakovich, Vincentian Board members, members of the Sisters of Holy Spirit and Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and many community members.

“In this day and age, when so many people seem to have lost a sense of community, the Vincentian Collaborative System is fulfilling the mission of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth by establishing housing where residents can truly be neighbors to one another,” said Bishop Zubik when blessing the site.

Prospective tenants attending the groundbreaking received applications and heard details of Terrace Place’s numerous amenities and attractions.

“Terrace Place will embrace nature by featuring a pond, meadow, walking trails and outdoor recreation areas all conveniently located just minutes from shopping and entertainment activities in the North Hills,” Vizzoca said. “Technology will allow residents to age in place in their new homes.”

Terrace Place at Vincentian, part of Vincentian’s continuum of care in the North Hills, joins Vincentian Villa as the system’s second independent living location in McCandless. Terrace Place residents will enjoy all the benefits of Vincentian’s CCRC, providing peace of mind to residents and their families should they require additional care in the future. Vincentian Collaborative System is a Catholic not-for-profit health care and human services organization that coordinates the care of three senior care communities in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area – Vincentian Home, Vincentian de Marillac and Vincentian Marian Manor.
