Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are one of the greatest resources we have at Vincentian and can serve in many ways: companionship, activities, hospitality, indirect service, spiritual care, and at events. By volunteering, you help your community be a better place by giving even just a few hours of your time and you will meet other people who share the same passion to serve.

Opportunities

Individual, Group, and Student volunteer opportunities exist in each of our campuses. Please complete the Volunteer Application Form and provide two references. Once your application is processed, you will be contacted for an interview and a date for orientation. All individual and student volunteers are required to attend orientation and infection control training.  Adult candidates (18 years or older) are also required to complete a background check and Mantoux (TB) testing.

Neighborhood Volunteers

Help with games, contests, parties, fitness, trivia, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts. Fun-loving, energetic volunteers who can also provide wheelchair transport to residents are needed at Vincentian Home and Marian Manor.

Sit and Chat

Adult volunteers are needed to visit with residents in the evening from 6 – 7:30 pm or on the weekends from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Adult volunteers are also needed to play cards and board games in the evenings from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

These are just a few examples of the many wonderful volunteer opportunities available. Contact us today to learn more.

Book of Life

Book of Life is an oral history program that engages residents in sharing memories and life stories. In doing so — they define milestones, accomplishments, and challenges that are enjoyable and informative for themselves and listeners.

As a Volunteer Biographer, you will be matched with a resident. Scheduling is flexible; assignment times are based on resident and volunteer availability. Volunteers can download The Book of Life Guide Book available to the right of this column, which will help provide ideas and tips to spark great conversations!

Some volunteers have researched old photos and archived information on the internet about their subject based on the residents’ stories and have added to their project such items as pictures of homes where a resident grew up, a factory where they worked, census information, or news articles that were part of their family history.
