At its heart, The Unconventional Kitchen is a social enterprise built to do two things well: make great food and make a difference. Our motto, Eat Well. Give Back., captures both. Every order helps fund Vincentian’s mission of compassionate care for older adults and children across the Pittsburgh region.
The Kitchen operates from a repurposed convent on the Vincentian campus, a space that once housed the Sisters whose service began here in 1924. Their work was guided by a belief that no need should go unanswered, a belief that still shapes everything we do. Today, we continue that legacy through food made with intention and purpose.
Our team prepares fresh, locally inspired meals for families, workplaces, and community gatherings. From daily catering and boxed lunches to cookies, bars, and desserts from our in-house bakery, everything is crafted with quality and care. What makes it unconventional is not only what’s on the plate, but what happens afterward: every dollar of profit is reinvested to support Vincentian’s residents, programs, and community outreach.
In a city of bridges that values both tradition and innovation, The Unconventional Kitchen bridges the two, honoring our roots while finding new ways to serve. When you eat well with us, you help others live well too.
